Pleasure of the Sky

Up!Up!Up!Up!Up!
Up!Up!Up!Up!Up!

An old dream of the sky came to me
And I flew to the edge of the world
I could see through the night quite clearly
Feel the wind through my wings as I flew

Up!Up!Up!Up!Up!
Up!Up!Up!Up!Up!

As I soared past the edge, moving outward
With a billion stars in my eyes
I embraced the life now behind me
And I knew, yes I knew the pleasure of the sky

Spin

When you were young did you spin til you were dizzy and
Touching your toungue to the experience
Did you wind up tangled in a great mess
Hoping for a break?

Or was it all just empty words and incense
The mountain come and gone like in zen
And did it make you more compassionate
Sitting there alone?

I don't have the answer
I don't know the way
I put my feet in my shoes
And walk a little every day
I don't fear tommorrow
I'm not ashamed to love
Most days I look around me
And think the universe is enough - today

If I get old I will spin til I am dizzy and
Touching the cold end of experience
Untangle every kind of great mess
Not waiting for breaks

I never needed empty words and incense
The mountain doesn't need to make sense
I find the will to be compassionate
Spinning all around

I don't have the answer
I don't know the way
I put my feet in my shoes
And walk a little every day
I don't fear tommorrow
I'm not ashamed to love
Most days I look around me
And think the universe is enough - today

Smells Like Rain

Smells like rain
Cries like winter
Smells like rain
Breaks like silence
Smells like rain
Change is coming
Smells like rain

There's something in the air that sets me dreaming
That calls to mind and old and lush refrain
And every rush of joy that I've been feeling
Smells Like Rain

I watch the rolling thunderheads pass over
I'm standing at the gates of awe again
With every lightning flash a new world opens
Smells like rain

And you wait, and you wait, and you wait
And you wait for the thunder
And you wait, and you wait, and you wait
And you wait for the thunder…

Something in the air that leaves me wanting
A hunger for a spark of hope again
And all that salty water from the ocean
Smells like rain

Let it fall like wonder
Let the awe rain into me
Let it fall like wonder
Let the awe rain into me

Smells like rain...

Yes!

I'm looking for the positive
Had enough of the negative
And I know how I wanna live
Tell ya now somethin's gotta give
And the right time for it is:
RIGHT NOW!

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!

When I see you in his arms
I wanna kiss you both like daylight
When I see you in his arms
I wanna kiss you both like spring
When I see you in his arms
I wanna kiss you both like daylight
When I see you in his arms I wanna
Dive right in!

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!

Gonna stop bein ill at ease
Open to the possibilities
Workin for the harmony
Wouldn't have it any other way
And the right time for it is?
RIGHT NOW!

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!

When you see me in his arms
You wanna kiss us both like daylight
When you see me in her arms
You wanna kiss us both like spring
When you see me in his arms
You wanna kiss us both like daylight
When you see me in her arms you wanna
Dive right in!

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!

Scarborough Fair - Traditional

Scarborough Fair
Are you going to Scarborough Fair
Remember me to one who lived there

Tell her to buy me an acre of land
Between the salt water and the sea strand

Tell her to plow it up with a lambs horn
And sow it all over with one peppercorn

Tell her to reap it in a sickle of blood
And gather it all to fight for our guard

Where are you going? To Scarborough Fair?
Are you going to Scarborough Fair
Remember me to one who lived there
She once was a true love of mine

Pennies for Our Eyes

Another dollar, another day, forced to waste the hours away
But doing time collecting pay, never cured the broken hearted

Who among us wrote the rule, that makes a human being a tool
When like good money and it's fool, we all will soon be parted?

On and on, life is long -how to hold on tight when it's bittersweet
On and on, but when it's gone, it isn't long at all

On and on, life is long -learn to love and learn how to keep your feet
On and on, but when it's gone, it isn't long at all

Bankers live and bankers die, by usury that bleeds us dry
They'll have us working all our lives just to spur the boatman's labors

Loan us dollars loan us dimes, we'll surely pay you back sometime
Loan us the pennies for our eyes, oh will you undertaker?

On and on, life is long -how to hold on tight when it's bittersweet
On and on, but when it's gone, it isn't long at all

On and on, life is long - learn to love and learn how to keep your feet
On and on, but when it's gone, it isn't long at all

But it's lonely on the way...
It's lonley on the way

A beggar offered a wealthy man a wizend apple from his hand
Who's the poor one man for man? Both are caught in history

One has money, one has time, both can say "All this is mine."
Gentle, vicious, cruel or kind, life is full of mystery…

Christmas in the Southland

Every day is Christmas when you open your presents
Every day is Christmas when you undo the twine
Santa's on his way and I know he's comin
But before he hits the chimney well he's takin a ride

He's goin down south, see your rainy weather
Headin down south, ooh the water is fine
When you're down south, best bring your umbrella
It's Christmas down south of your Mason-Dixon line

You better be good, yeah you better listen
Better be nice when you're spinnin your top
Better be friendly when I'm moppin up your kitchen
Better be quiet or maybe I'll - stop

Goin down south, see your rainy weather
Headin down south, ooh the water is fine
When you're down south, best bring your umbrella
It's Christmas down south of your Mason-Dixon line

You got a secret, I'm gonna tell it
You got a secret, you told a lie
You told me that you were not religious
But last night I heard you say
Ohgodohgodohgodohgodohgodohgodohgodoh

I was goin down south, see your rainy weather
Headin down south, ooh the water is fine
When you're down south, best bring your umbrella
It's Christmas down south of your Mason-Dixon line

Some say it's a sin but they don't know what they're missin
Say it's a sin, but I think sin's a lie
If you don't like the heat, stay out of the kitchen
If you don't like the taste well you can't have any pie

Goin down south, see your rainy weather
Headin down south, ooh the water is fine
When you're down south, best bring your umbrella
It's Christmas down south of your Mason-Dixon line

Oh holy night,
jingle bell jingle bell ringing your jingle bells
Oh I wish I was in the land of cotton….
It's Christmas down south of your Mason Dixon line…

Gathering Light

Gathering light, stars like seeds
Gathering light, stars like seeds

I am stripped to nearly nothing as I fall into the deep
And my body holds the ashes of the memories that I keep

The light from every star I see is pouring through my skin
I don't know just where my body stops and where the night begins

Gathering light, stars like seeds
Gathering light, stars like seeds

We are standing in the dayliight of a not so distant star
Like all of life before we came and all after we're gone

I can lift my eye toward a sky filled with tiny suns
Collect the endless streaming light that comes from every one

Gathering light, stars like seeds
Gathering light, stars like seeds

Belladonna Smiles

I close the door upon myself
And take her with me
Belladonna smiles

I chose a road whose only wealth
was cold horizons
Belldonna sighs
She got nightshade in her eyes

I'm leaning toward Belladonna
What good is this life?
Two kisses from Belladonna
We could dream or we could die tonight

Who doesn't come upon the edge
And hear the laughing?
Belladonna's smiles
And her eyes are open wide

Belladonna flies...

It All Disappears

Control. It's such a temptation but reality has it's way
On the whole, even the best situations
have some things you just can't change
The old "It's all just illusion" don't work when the bills ain't paid.
It's cold, but when you run from the truth it comes back to bite you someday

Does it all go when your eyes close and the light's gone away?
Is it still real if you can't feel or you can't hear what they say?
Maybe it's all - maybe it's all gone, all gone now

The world disappears when you're not watching
It ends when you close your eyes?
But then it returns when we're back watching
So really now nobody minds - nobody minds

Alone, my eyes own the vision, they keep everything they see
On my own, I take it all in and that how it comes home with me
On the phone, they'll dial you in of you like for a nominal fee
Even so, no matter how you are living, observing your life is still free

Does it all go when your eyes close and the light's gone away?
Is it still real if you can't feel or you can't hear what they say?
Maybe it's all - maybe it's all gone, all gone now

Does it all disappear when you're not watching
Or end when you close your eyes?
But then it returns when we're back watching
So really now nobody minds - nobody minds

Coming down, I see through the curtains, I see through the old tired way
All around, almost nothing is certain but death, taxes, daylight and change
I have found, if I keep the lines open I might even like what you say
One the ground, the galaxy's turning and no doubt it's gonna remain

Does it all go when your eyes close and the light's gone away?
Is it still real if you can't feel or you can't hear what they say?
Maybe it's all - maybe it's all gone, all gone now

Does it all disappear when you're not watching
It ends when you close your mind
But then it returns when we're back watching
So really now nobody minds - nobody minds

Crossing the Border

We are the traces of the faces that left us behind
Still shimmering
Like every word you've said or heard before somewhere you'll find
It's still ringing
Though the words are alive and in front of you eyes
There's a question that's opening wide:
Are ya gonna go?

For every action there's reaction whether large or small
To the things we do
Look at your mother, father, brother, sister one and all
Shine in you
The the likeness is gone and you're passing it on
And the silence is shaping your song
Are ya gonna go?

Every minute that we're living is just borrowed time
And not our own
The words are waiting while we're skating over cold thin ice
It's right below
Then our memory's inside each of thousands of lives
as we silently open our eyes
On the other side

We're crossing the border

Bodies At Midnight

Celestial bodies at midnight
Through the sky they fall
We shine like those bodies at midnight
Spinning through it all

We move our bodies at midnght
Looking for release
We dance with strangers like we might be lovers
Waiting for the hurts to cease

And if you spin with me into some future story
Some other galaxy where there’s still hope or glory
I’ll do my level best to shine some light on where we go
In these bodies at midnight

You can’t hide bodies at midnight
Even starlight leaves a scar
They mark the way to every hell or heaven
Saying “This is who you are”

Look for the bodies at midnight
Hurtling through space
We circle round among the falling planets
Swimming into grace
Spinning our bodies at midnight

And if you spin with me into some future story
Some other galaxy where there’s still hope or glory
I’ll do my level best to shine some light on where we go
In these bodies at midnight

RISING

Still breathing, still moving
I've landed harder than this
I've taken more than I've put out

I'm rising, I'm waking
I'm pushing through an ocean
I've lived an ocean full of doubt

But if you hear this
Please let me know that I've got through
I hope you know I'll rise for you
And maybe you'lll rise with me too

We're knocked down, we stand up
We finally learn to parry
Sometimes it seems we fight the world

We load in, we load out
The world's a load to carry
We spin so fast we make it twirl

And if you hear this…
I hope you know I'll rise for you
And maybe you'lll rise with me too
Please let me know that I've got through

Still writhing, still reeling
Say have you seen my boot strap?
I've heard there's never shame in hope

We give some, we take some
We'll give back more and plenty
Someday I'll learn to let it go…

And if you hear this…
I hope you know I'll rise for you
And maybe you'lll rise with me too
Please let me know that I've got through
